Worms have played major roles in world mythology and its associated literatures. The word was often used to describe creatures now classified as snakes, lindworms, serpents and dragons. Its symbolic meaning is divided between death and renewal.
According to Hunker, worms love moisture. They thrive in warm, damp environments, like bathrooms and basements. If your home is moist enough to draw them in, even on non-rainy days, you might want to invest in a dehumidifier, at least for the dampest spaces in your home.
Other worm superstitions: - To step on a worm will bring bad luck all day. - To see earthworms in the autumn after a rain foretells a mild winter. - If you kill a worm, you kill good luck.
They improve soil structure, water movement, nutrient cycling and plant growth. They are not the only indicators of healthy soil systems, but their presence is usually an indicator of a healthy system. There are some considerations that you need to be aware of when looking for earthworms.

Worms are attracted to healthy soil that contains high levels of organic materials. Having earthworms in your yard simply means that your soil is healthy and supports life of all kinds.
Earthworm activity is an excellent gauge of overall soil health and their populations have a direct relationship to plant growth and productivity. They help in lawns by improving the soil structure, breaking down thatch, and releasing plant usable nutrients as they break down organic matter.
The red worms that usually appear in the bathroom are carried away by the flow of water under the house. If the house uses groundwater flow or untreated boreholes, then you will likely experience this problem. Not only the type of water but a poor home drainage system can also cause worms to infiltrate a damp bathroom.
Allolobophora chlorotica, commonly known as the green worm, is a species of earthworm that feeds and lives in soil. This species stands out from other earthworms due to the presence of three pairs of sucker-like discs on the underside of the clitellum.
For example, birds are often symbolic of the soul, while insect symbology is often associated with change and transformation. Native American mythology sees swarms of insects as a sign of bad luck, but smaller individual insects symbolize meekness and humility — highly revered traits.

Although earthworms are like other consumers in that they are unable to produce their own food, they are unlike in that they do not eat live organisms. Instead, they extract food energy from decaying organic matter (plants and animals that have died).
Earthworms make it possible for us to live on the planet, simply by eating and pooping, and ploughing up, ventilating and fertilising the soil along the way.
Euphrosyne (/juːˈfrɒzɪniː/; Ancient Greek: Εὐφροσύνη), in ancient Greek religion and mythology, was one of the Charites, known in ancient Rome as the Gratiae (Graces).

By their activity in the soil, earthworms offer many benefits: increased nutrient availability, better drainage, and a more stable soil structure, all of which help improve farm productivity. Worms feed on plant debris (dead roots, leaves, grasses, manure) and soil.
Earthworms and red wriggler worms are perfectly safe to hold bare-handed, though it’s probably prudent to wash your hands before eating your next meal. Centipedes can bite, but they are nearly impossible to catch, which works out well.
The best way to handle pest control and pest management of earthworms is to remember that they are beneficial to the soil. Try to avoid removing earthworms as much as possible. Always remember that earthworms are a sign that the soil is healthy, and rarely should they be a cause for pest control panic.
Attracting worms
Worms love to eat rotting organic material, and excrete faeces known as castings that are rich in nitrogen and phosphate which is a brilliant natural fertiliser. Worms also have another positive effect. They burrow their way through the soil by eating organic material.
Earthworms are not disease carriers, and generally do not have an impact on human or animal health. As they are often referred to simply as ‘worms’ they may be confused with parasitic worms that are harmful to humans.
