Injury, overuse or conditions causing inflammation involving any of the bones, ligaments or tendons in the foot can cause foot pain. Arthritis is a common cause of foot pain. Injury to the nerves of the feet may result in intense burning pain, numbness or tingling (peripheral neuropathy).
For the far majority of people the right foot will store the past and how one is in the world. The left foot stores more of the internal or self representation – it contains the vital energy for the moral and spiritual growth and understanding.
According to many myths, metaphors and symbols for the foot also represent life-spending fertility, eroticism, and sexuality. But nevertheless the foot is also a symbol of respect, reverence, and subservience, feet washing and anointing is an act of humility and love.
Over time, chronic stress and anxiety can also increase your sensitivity to pain. Consequently, when your feet hurt, anxiety may intensify the pain. From here it’s an ongoing cycle of pain and anxiety. As your pain worsens, you may become more anxious, which can make your feet hurt even more.
Now add vitamin C. So many foot problems, including tendinitis and plantar fasciitis, develop because of inflammation. Fortunately, vitamin C can help fight that inflammation. So look for foods rich in this helpful vitamin, including oranges, kiwis, strawberries, tomatoes, kale and spinach.
Reflex areas of central organs such as the spinal column and stomach are in both feet; the organs on the right side of the body (e.g. the liver) are on the right foot, those on the left side (e.g. the spleen) are on the left foot; lungs and kidneys are on both feet; the toes correspond with the brain and its organs.
The right foot is associated with the right part of the body and left foot is associated with the left side of the body. The stomach, for example, is primarily located on the left side of the body so massaging and applying pressure to the left foot can treat stomach ailments.
One of the things feet can’t do is reveal your heritage or personality. There’s no evidence that the shape of your foot indicates what part of the world your ancestors walked through, and no research that proves foot shape is connected to personality traits.
The sole is the bottom of the foot. In humans the sole of the foot is anatomically referred to as the plantar aspect.

In addition to bones and joints, your feet are also full of muscles, tendons, and ligaments that connect to the rest of your body. Any pain in your feet can also commonly travel into your legs. The lower legs are most commonly affected, since that is where the soft tissue is most closely connected.
When an emotion is not fully processed, it may become “stuck” in the body. However, it’s the limbic structures of the brain where emotional processing occurs.
Pain in the bottom of your foot is often caused by exercise, such as running, wearing shoes that are too tight or a condition, such as Morton’s neuroma. Burning or Swelling in the Feet
Sensations of burning or visible swelling could indicate kidney, heart or circulatory problems. Foot Pain and burning in the feet is an indication that your circulation is not functioning well.
Aching feet at night or nighttime foot pain can be due to a muscular issue, a nerve problem, a bone-related pathology or injury, dermatological or skin-related conditions, an inflammatory process or a vascular concern.
Seek immediate medical attention if you: Have severe pain or swelling. Have an open wound or a wound that is oozing pus. Have signs of infection, such as redness, warmth and tenderness in the affected area or you have a fever over 100 F (37.8 C)
Foot pain may be telling you to lose weight, signal the onset of arthritis or result from a stress fracture. The more weight that we carry, the more pressure we put on our feet, which can cause pain. Arthritic conditions can also make your feet susceptible to pain.
Inflammation Can Cause Foot Pain
Animal protein sources with too much saturated fat, such as red meat. Prepared foods with refined grains, sugar and trans-fats. White flour that you find in pasta, snacks and desserts. Vegetable oils with a lot of omega-6 fats such as corn, soybean and sunflower oils.
In fact, oftentimes foot pain starts when the body lacks essential nutrients. One of the body’s most essential nutrients is vitamin B12. And, a lot of people actually lack a sufficient amount of vitamin B12 within their bodies.
Your feet can tell you a lot about your general health condition or warn you of underlying health conditions. From pesky foot pain to more serious symptoms, such as numbness, your feet often show symptoms of disease before any other part of your body.
Physical stress can take its toll on our feet in the form of excessive wear and tear of the nails and skin and show up as overuse injuries like tendinitis or bone stress fractures. Excessive emotional stress or anxiety can have more subtle symptoms and be felt all the way to our toes.
According to reflexology, pressure applied to the right reflex points can correct problems with correlating body parts, organs and zones. For instance, a point on the arch of the foot may correspond with liver function. When pressure is applied to the reflex point on the foot, it will improve the liver functioning.
The health of your feet can be directly related to the health of your heart. Because feet mirror general health, foot problems can be the first sign of more serious medical problems such as heart disease, peripheral artery disease, diabetes and neuropathy.
